The collection of spatially referenced data is becoming increasingly important. The capture of spatial data can be performed in many ways, some simple and some complex. SML Map Department GIS Assistant, Stacey Maples, will briefly explain several of the methods for “Geocoding” data and discuss two projects in which complex spatial datasets are being created and managed using the latest in GPS-enabled mobile computing platforms and Geographic Information Systems. He will be joined by the principal investigators for these two projects: Richard Brooks, Professor of Law (Yale Law School); Colleen Murphy-Dunning, Director, Hixon Center for Urban Ecology, Urban Resources Initiative (Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies).
